The full respiratory monitoring system was removed from Rowan’s room today. In its place, his team has added just a constant low-flow oxygen supply through his nose (seen below), plus an oxygen mask nearby for when he needs additional support during some seizures. Neurology came by this morning and shared that in a ~14 hour period starting at around 7pm last night they identified 27 seizures. The seizures remain short, and they’ve offered a few more clues (e.g. seizures on one side of his brain are accompanied by a drop in his oxygen saturation, while ones on the other side have no observable symptoms). However, because they seem to be ramping up in frequency they’re going to do another MRI on Monday and have added a new medication into the mix to see if it can help get things under control.
